Confidence in Prati machines. We talk to Shmuel Lerner, owner of S. Lerner Ltd
S. Lerner Ltd was founded in Haifa (Israel) in 1978 as a family business for development, planning and production of packaging with a special emphasis on the label industry. From its beginning the company focused its attention on expanding flexo printing quality and over time its business and production.
Since 2000 the company has had its home in a modern factory in the industrial area of Akko. S. Lerner Ltd is a fully independent operation with its 110 employees handling all tasks from graphic design to finishing, converting of self-adhesive labels and more recently flexible substrate labels, shrink, IML and wrap-around labels.
The company has always chosen productive machines that represent quality and reliability for both, printing, flexo and digital, as well as finishing and production control. For its entrance into the sensitive IML label market, S. Lerner once again relied on Prati. They purchased the first machine that the Italian manufacturer has produced in cooperation with the customer. Hence our first question to Shmuel Lerner.
Which added value do you find in Prati Company's systems in comparison to those from other suppliers in the market?
SL: We have found that the quality and productivity of Prati's machinery is superior to the other ones we have checked out. The same can be said for their reliability. So, when we decided to enter the market for IML labels, we turned to Prati Company who until now did not have a machine for it. However, we were assured that they would develop one according to our requirements.
How do Prati's system help you in your work as packing and label producer?
SL: In our factory we use Prati machines for cutting and control. One advantage that we have noted is that Prati's products enable us to increase productivity – both in terms of speed and waste elimination. This has offered us the opportunity to act competitively in a very complex market. For IML labels we required a punching machine that would allow us to overcome various difficulties. The solution developed by Prati is excellent.
What were the decisive factors for you to establish a partnership between your company and Prati?
SL: Both of our companies are family owned and operate on an international level. In particular we like the open-minded innovative ideas from Prati and their willingness to develop machines tailored according to the requirements of their customers. We also very much appreciate their excellent service before and after sales and their willingness to respond to all our requests.
What is your level of satisfaction with Prati machines?
SL: For me, Prati will be henceforth the first company with whom we will discuss future requirements for machines. As I pointed out, there is a deep feeling between the Lerner family and the Prati family.
Do you think that, although you are satisfied with Prati Company and its offerings, there is some room to improve on the products and services. And if yes, in which way?
SL: As with all our suppliers and companies, we are confident that Mr. Peter Prati, as well as his family and his team, will not stop at the status quo but will always be careful to anticipate the needs of an evolving market. For this reason, we place our utmost confidence in the Prati Company.
